We’re pleased to premiere the video for singer-songwriter Brooke Waggoner‘s latest single “Widow Maker.”

The song taken from her upcoming album Sweven (out Jan. 15) and is just under two minutes long. It’s a fast, upbeat ear-worm featuring an electric organ and a scientific spoken word breakdown. To go along with this scientific theme, the video features Waggoner as a professor in a classroom mixing various concoctions while she sings about missing her deceased man.

“Schooling young minds on the biology of the heart. Acting as a professor in a realm of reducing love & loss to a ‘science’ — somehow strapping a lab coat on me made this all seem possible,” Waggoner says. “I love how the video feels playful, comedic, maybe a little ’90s (in the best way possible), sprinkled with some real life truths: losing someone to death is difficult. There’s no elixir to make it go away. But in death, there is life. A choice in how we respond. Here’s hoping this video makes my dad proud (who has a ‘real’ Ph.D).”
