Post Malone Answers The Question: ‘Are You Going to Do a Country Album?’

During the opening of Post Malone‘s custom-designed Raising Cane’s restaurant around Midvale, Utah, radio station 93.3 The Bull asked the rapper if he was serious about dropping a country album. Post Malone has flirted with the idea of releasing a full-blown country album for quite some time now.

In a TikTok uploaded by The Bull, Malone says, “I think I’ll do it whenever the time is right in the studio, and I’m just vibing, f***ing around. I think it’ll be a fun time [and] I just like creating stuff and making everything.”

During an interview on The Howard Stern Show regarding the potential of dropping a country album, Malone said, “To be honest, there’s nothing stopping me from taking a camera or setting up in my studio in Utah and just recording a country album [to put] on YouTube. I’m allowed to do that. I’m a human being.”

During the same interview, the “Rockstar” singer discussed a myriad of reasons why he has yet to release a country album. He added, “I split my time between a lot of different things because I am happily obligated to do concerts and show love to my fans … and then I’m happily obligated to write music and make beats by myself, and I’m happily obligated to, you know, take care of my family. So, it’s a lot of time, and it’s about finding that space to allot that time. If I get another year to myself, maybe I’ll make a f–king country album.”

While Malone has yet to drop a full country album himself, he has been featured on several songs by prominent country artists. These songs include “I’m Gonna Miss Her” by Brad Paisley, “There’s a Tear in My Beer” by Hank Williams Jr, “You Can Have The Crown” by Sturgill Simpson, and “Thousand Miles From Nowhere” by Dwight Yoakam. Malone is largely known for his contribution to hip-hop, pop, and R&B.

Malone has recently announced that he is awaiting the release of a new album titled Austin, which will not be a country record. In his Twitter announcement, Malone wrote, “Proud to announce my new album titled Austin dropping on July 28th. This whole deal has been one of the most challenging, rewarding, and exciting records I’ve worked on. I feel it captures who I am as a man and as an artist in this moment.”
