Popular Rock Band Stunned After Band Member Abruptly Quits via Email

Formed during the 1980s, Primus embraced rock and roll with songs like “Follow the Fool” and “American Life.” Although gaining a sizable following over the decades, the band went through more than a few lineup changes. And one of those changes came when they added drummer Tim Alexander to the group. While a longtime drummer for the band, Alexander quit more than a few times. Joining the band in the late 1980s, Alexander left the group in 1996 before returning in 2003. And he would leave once again in 2010 to only return in 2013. Following that same trend, it appears the drummer has once again – left Primus.

Sharing the somewhat shocking news on social media, Primus opened up bout Alexander’s decision to leave the group for the third time. And this time, the drummer decided to end his time with Primus through email. “On Thursday, October 17th, we received an email from Tim “Herb” Alexander expressing that effective immediately he would no longer be involved with Primus.  It came as a complete shock to all of us here in the Primus camp.”

Primus Not Canceling After Tim Alexander Quits

Primus went on to share how confusing the exit was given how much fun they had touring recently. “On the heels of a wonderful Spring & Summer of touring and some fabulous plans ahead, it has been a bit bewildering for us that Herb would so abruptly opt out.  After several attempts to communicate with Herb, his only response was another email stating that he has ‘lost his passion for playing,’.  As disappointing as that is, we respect his choice and it’s forced us to make some tough decisions.”

While Primus thought about canceling some of their upcoming shows, the band promised to continue playing. “As far as future Primus, the band is looking forward to performing in the Dominican Republic with Tool and others.  Danny Carey has once again graciously offered to fill the drum throne.”

With Alexander losing the passion to play, Primus ended their message, insisting they were “searching for the “greatest drummer on earth.”
