Peter Gabriel’s first album in seven years will be a covers record of sorts. Titled Scratch My Back, the album will feature Gabriel lending his trademark smokey pipes to songs by Radiohead, David Bowie, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, and more.
“The songs are not simply covers,” Gabriel’s musical collaborator John Metcalfe tells BBC 6 Music. “They are major reinterpretations of some famous stuff. It’s quite radical.” The album, produced by Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd’s The Wall) will employ orchestral arrangements of each artists’ works, bringing them into new realms. Look for Scratch My Back in the Spring of 2010. Below is a leaked track listing. We can’t wait to hear Gabriel’s take on “Street Spirit (Fade Out).”
