Even after nearly sixty years as a live musician, Paul McCartney is still able to surprise fans. The legendary singer-songwriter kicked off his One on One tour on Wednesday night in Fresno, California with his first ever solo performance of “Hard Day’s Night.” The singer later went on to deliver his first non-Beatles rendition of “Love Me Do,” as well. Aside from the two first-time performances, McCartney also dusted off a number of other older tracks for his tour’s opening night. He took to the piano to perform The Beatles’ “Here, There and Everywhere” for the first time since 2008. McCartney and company also played The Magical Mystery Tour’s “The Fool on the Hill” for the first time since 2003 and Rubber Soul’s “You Won’t See Me” for the first time since 2004.
The night also featured surprises from McCartney’s non-Beatles projects. McCartney channeled his time in The Quarrymen – his early group with John Lennon and George Harrison that preceded The Beatles –with a performance of “In Spite of All the Danger.” The ex-Beatle also showcased “FourFiveSeconds,” his 2015 collaboration with Rihanna and Kanye West.
