2015 will mark the 40th anniversary of Horses, the classic debut album from Patti Smith that helped to establish her as the legendary songwriter she is now. Smith is knee deep in planning for the milestone, hoping to hold a series of events around the world to celebrate the anniversary.
Smith plans to pay particular attention to November 10th, which is the day the album came out in 1975. “The exact date is November 10th, and I want to celebrate it in New York in a special way,” Smith tells Rolling Stone. “We have things we’ll be doing in Paris and London, everywhere, because it’s a true milestone. I’m proud to have a milestone like that.”
Aside from honoring the album’s release date, Smith hasn’t set any firm dates or details yet, but she does intend to perform the album in its entirety at each stop on the anniversary tour.
And if that isn’t enough to keep Smith busy, she will also likely have a book to promote, as she’s just recently completed the follow-up to 2010’s National Book Award winner Just Kids.
