Considered a standalone sequel to the 1996 disaster film, Twisters touched down in theaters July 19. Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, it marks the first blockbuster film with a completely original country soundtrack since 1980’s Urban Cowboy. The soundtrack is an auditory feast for country music fans, featuring Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, and more. However, many social media users were shocked at the omission of a certain Carrie Underwood hit.

“Such a Fumble:” Carrie Underwood Fans React to ‘Twisters’ Soundtrack
The plot of Twisters centers around a tornado in Oklahoma. Unsurprisingly, many fans wondered why the soundtrack left out a country song about… a tornado in Oklahoma.
“not having blown away by carrie underwood in the new twisters movie is such a fumble,” one X/Twitter user wrote.
Carrie Underwood released “Blown Away” as the second single and title track from her 2012 studio album. The moody, gripping country-pop number earned high praise from critics and became Underwood’s 13th No. 1 hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.
“how are you going to have a movie about tornados in Oklahoma with a country music soundtrack and not include Blown Away by Carrie Underwood?” one fan wondered on X/Twitter.
“Do Y’all Even LISTEN to Song Lyrics????”
However, some fans pointed out that the song’s dark subject matter doesn’t really fit into the film. After all, “Blown Away” is about a young woman who takes refuge from a tornado in her cellar — while her abusive, alcoholic father stays “passed out on the couch.” Some called it taking shelter / She called it sweet revenge.

“If I see one more person wondering why Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away wasn’t in the Twisters because because it ‘fit the vibes”‘- I’m gonna lose you,” one X/Twitter user wrote. “Do y’all even LISTEN to song lyrics ????”
The weatherman called for a twister / She prayed blow it down, Carrie Underwood sings. There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma / To wash the sins out of that house.
Admittedly, it doesn’t exactly call to mind a rollicking action-thriller about storm chasers.
“People on TikTok asking why ‘Blown Away’ by Carrie Underwood wasn’t on the Twisters soundtrack as if it’s not a song about a girl letting her abusive alcoholic father die in a storm,” one X/Twitter user wrote.
