A heads up to unsigned bands in Seattle, Denver, Detroit, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, and Del Ray Beach, Fla.: Fall Out Boy are looking for opening acts for their upcoming small venue tour. The band is encouraging local and unsigned bands from each city of the tour to compete for the gig. Bands can enter the contest online through www.friendsorenemies.com.
Website staffers will select semifinalists, and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley will make the final call. Bands for the tour’s first two shows have already been selected; A Loss for Words will open tomorrow night in Boston, and Blue Collar will play Friday night in Philadelphia. The rest of the shows, are still open, but time is running out.
The tour will launch tomorrow night to preview Fall Out Boy’s upcoming release Folie a Deux. The album will be their fifth, their follow-up to platinum-certified Infinity on High. The new album was originally slated for a November 4th release, but the band eventually shied away from the election day gimmick, and pushed the release date back to December 16th.
