Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo performed a rendition of fellow breakout singer/songwriter Noah Kahan during her debut on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge series. Released today (October 2), the heartfelt and breezy cover finds the 20-year-old talent leaning into the original tune’s indie-folk soundscape.

The studio session, which also features live performances of Rodrigo’s original tracks “get him back!” and “vampire,” apparently caught Kahan by surprise. The 26-year-old hitmaker, who is gearing up for an extensive headlining tour in 2024, took to social media to share his bewilderment over the tribute.
It’s been a hectic few weeks for Rodrigo, who has been busy promoting her highly-anticipated sophomore album GUTS. The record, which dropped on September 8, debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart immediately upon its release. The massive success of GUTS has been partially driven by her hit lead single, “vampire,” and her buzzed-about performance during last month’s MTV Video Music Awards.
On Friday (September 29), Rodrigo surprised fans at a performance at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe by introducing her friend and musical hero, Sheryl Crow. The pair shared harmonies on “If It Makes You Happy,” Crow’s trademark hit from 1996. Concertgoers at the intimate performance were also treated to an array of cuts from Rodrigo’s new album, including “lacy” and “making the bed.”
