Rodrigo shared her highly-anticipated sophomore record, GUTS, earlier this month. She performed a duo of songs from the record, “vampire” and “get him back!” at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. She brought her music videos to life, shocking the audience with feigned technical difficulties.
“It’s a testament to Rodrigo’s songwriting,” American Songwriter wrote in a review of the album. “She manages to be true to herself (which means singing about things like fame and growing up in front of the world) while still allowing her fans to identify with the basic emotions behind those things: anxiety, heartbreak, and insecurity.”
