Old Crow Medicine Show is ready to celebrate Jubilee.

The band has announced that their new album, Jubilee, will be released on August 25. A dozen songs feature appearances by Mavis Staples on the closing track, “One Drop” and Americana singer Sierra Ferrell on the humorously titled “Belle Meade Cockfight.”

The album also marks the grand return of Old Crow Medicine Show co-founder Willie Watson, who sings guest vocals on lead single “Miles Away,” which was written by frontman Ketch Secor and 2023 Grammy Best New Artist nominee Molly Tuttle. Watson was one of the founding members of Old Crow Medicine Show in Ithaca, New York, in the late 1990s. “Miles Away” marks the first time Watson’s recorded with the band since he left in 2011.

“This is one of those rearview songs where objects in the mirror are closer than they appear. 25 years of making music on the road means you’re always coming back to the same places as a different person; there’s a reminder of your past self and the choices you made back when,” Secor explains in a press release about the meaning of “Miles Away.” “Molly Tuttle and I wrote this one together and when it was through, I asked my Old Crow co-founder Willie Watson to make his first appearance on an Old Crow record in years. After all, this is a song about amends, of bygones being bygones, and of renewal.”

Jubilee is described as “somewhat of a companion piece” to Old Crow’s 2022 album, Paint This Town, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart. Watson will join Old Crow Medicine Show on their 2023 tour as an opening act and will play as part of the band. The tour kicks off in Secor’s native Virginia on Friday (June 23) and continues through New Year’s Eve where it wraps with a two-night stay at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on December 30 and 31.
