Norah Jones is back with “Can You Believe,” her first taste of new music in a while. The beloved singer-songwriter dropped the gospel-jazz fusion, a tune rife with her compelling songcraft, and carried by her sultry lilt, on Friday (June 16) after having teased the melody on social media.

Do you hear me speaking? her seductive croon coats the tune’s lackadaisical keys, Your name is rolling off my tongue / Can you hear the whispering? / The shame is not what I’ll become.
Arriving just ahead of Jones’ extensive European tour this summer, which kicks off on July 5, “Can You Believe” marks the singer’s first new standalone release in over a year. While new music has come by way of recent deluxe reissues, fans have been chomping at the bit for more. “Can You Believe” certainly feels like the glimmer of hope for a forthcoming album from the singer. Until that is confirmed, check out her new single below.
Last year saw the “Don’t Know Why” star release a deluxe edition of her fan-favorite festive album, I Dream Of Christmas. The reissue of the 2021 holiday release received an additional 11 songs for a 24-track offering in all. It included her hit renditions of the classic, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” the Chipmunks’ “Christmas Don’t Be Late,” Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas,” and many more beloved tunes.
Jones also dropped a new podcast, Playing Along, in which she shares her love of making music with others. A synopsis of the project reads, “Each episode, she sits down with a different guest for impromptu musical collaborations and candid conversation. Her guests come from all walks of life and every musical style and you never know where the songs will take them. So, come hang out in the studio. Norah Jones is Playing Along!”
