Noel Gallagher Talks Mumford And Sons

Videos by American Songwriter

While you can’t count on Noel Gallagher for any new Oasis tunes, you can always count on him for a good quote. The High Flying Birds frontman recently sat down to talk to Rolling Stone, and subjects ranged from Radiohead to Amy Winehouse. Gallagher, not one to praise music that came out past 1975, had some mostly kind words for British folk sensations Mumford and Sons.

A lot of people hate them in England. I think it’s the waistcoat and facial hair. I don’t mind them. I think that guy’s got a good voice . . . I wish had written that song [“The Cave”]. That’s the biggest compliment I can pay whoever wrote that.

Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds’ eponymous debut album is due November 8.
