As the great Morrissey once moaned, “I know it’s over.” Liam Gallagher has announced that the demise of Oasis will indeed be permanent. In an interview with the London Times, the singer confessed: “Oasis is no longer. I think we all know that. So that’s done.” Gallagher will instead focus on his new clothing line, Pretty Green. Oasis imploded when Noel Gallagher quit the band in Paris this August after the latest in a long series of blow-ups with his brother. Liam maintains that he isn’t done with music, though. “I’ll be doing music to the day I die. People will be able to buy his [Noel’s] records. People will be able to buy our records. So everyone’s happy.”
Where one ’90s band ends, another takes its place. After releasing a new solo album earlier this year, Dolores O’Riordan has reunited with her former bandmates, The Cranberries, for their first tour in seven years. She tells Billboard that the act once famous for monster hits like “Zombie” and “Linger” are eager to write more material. “It’s one of those things where we have to see what happens when we get back together and start playing,” she says. “There’s no point in bringing out a crappy record. You want it to be really good, so hopefully the creative juices are flowing and the energies are right. We’re all pumped and excited and we’ve got that hunger that we had when we first started out.”
Over in the country music world, the line-up for the fourth annual Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival, was announced yesterday. Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Brooks & Dunn and Sugarland will headline the two-day concert at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, on April 24-25. Rounding out the bill are Billy Currington, Gary Allan, Phil Vassar, Merle Haggard, Carlene Carter, The Oak Ridge Boys, Mallary Hope, Ray Price, Jamey Johnson,The Avett Brothers and Bobby Bare, among the others. Tickets start at $99.00 for two-day passes and go on sale October 16. Tickets and information can be found at Stagecoachfestival.com .
Taylor Swift is still feeling “Fearless.” On October 27, Swift will release the Fearless Platinum Edition — an expanded CD/DVD version of her record-breaking album, which features six new songs. The DVD will include the album’s videos, with behind-the-scenes-footage, and her genre-busting performance of “Thug Story” with rapper T-Pain at the CMT Awards.
Swift will be hitting the road in the States next March (with opening act, Kanye “I’mma let you finish” West? A magazine can dream.) Check out the new tour dates, as well as the track list for Fearless Platinum Edition, below.
