Newport Folk Festival To Be Webcast On NPR Music

Thanks to NPR Music and six partner radio stations, exclusive video webcasts and broadcasts of George Wein’s Newport Folk Festival and Newport Jazz Festival will be available through NPR Music and the assisting stations.

Coverage of the Folk Festival, July 30-31, includes The Decemberists, Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Gogol Bordello, M. Ward, Tegan and Sara, Mavis Staples, Typhoon and Gillian Welch. WFUV, Folk Alley and mvyradio in Martha’s Vineyard will assist NPR Music, streaming live video from all three stages. Many performances may be streamed through the station websites and NPR Music, or downloaded through NPR Music’s “Live in Concert” podcast.

Jazz Festival coverage follows on Aug. 6-7 with live audio webcasts and broadcasts from NPR, WBGO, 89.7 WBGH and WICN. Featured artists may include Avishai Cohen’s Triveni with Anat Cohen, Mostly Other People Do The Killing, Esperanza Spalding, Randy Weston’s African Rhythms Trio and Wynton Marsalis.
