On April 8, the New York Songwriters Circle will host its monthly showcase in Boston, in order to showcase the city’s most promising writers. The show will eminate from Berklee College Of Music’s Cafe 939, and will be headlined by  Reed Waddle (www.myspace.com/reedwaddle), the 2009 winner of the New York Songwriters Circle’s annual songwriting contest.

Also on the bill are Julia Easterlin (www.myspace.com/juliaeasterlin) a Boston-based singer/songwriter and jazz vocalist, who earned second-place in the contest, and Pam Autouri (www.myspace.com/pamautuori), Jim Wolf (www.myspace.com/jimwolfmusic), Roger Salloom (www.myspace.com/rogersalloom) and Erin Barra (www.myspace.com/erinbarra).

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the BPC box office (located at 136 Mass Avenue) up until the day of the show, and at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster outlet.

“Boston is just an amazing town for young songwriters to develop their skills and launch their careers,” said Tina Shafer, Artistic Director for the New York Songwriters Circle. “Over the past year we have witnessed some outstanding performances at Cafe 939 by artists who we feel are standing at the edge of greatness.”

The New York Songwriters Circle, now in its 19th year, has helped launch the careers of Norah Jones, Gavin DeGraw, Jesse Harris, Lisa Loeb, Vanessa Carlton, and Chris Barron.  Check out some clips of past NYSC showcases here.
