It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Coldplay, who’ve been hard at work on the followup to their world-beating Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends.
Produced by Viva La Vida’s Brian Eno, the band’s brand new single is another technicolor U2-meets-brit pop banger with a slightly cheesy title. This one’s about the joys of listening to music, where “heaven is in sight,” and between the speakers. Surging guitars which at times mimic bag pipes, blaring synths, and some well-timed acoustic strumming build to a “waterfall” of sound. And yes, Chris Martin can still sing really high.
There’s no album title for or release date yet for Coldplay’s 5th LP yet, but the band will hit Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits this summer. Download “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall” here.
