Bill Callahan, Ron Sexmith, Beth Orton and Marrisa Nadler are among the artists featured on the upcoming Crayon Angel: A Tribute to the Music of Judee Sill. Judee Sill was a Laurel Canyon-based folk artist who released two critically-acclaimed albums before dying of a drug overdose in 1979 at the age of 35. Sill, whose songwriting was influenced by Bach’s arranging, was the first artist signed to David Geffen’s Asylum label. Graham Nash produced her first single, “Jesus was a Cross Maker.” Sill’s albums were reissued by Arista in 2005.
