MySpace Gets FanSpace

As if number one social networking site MySpace was not a strong enough new music promoter already, Gydget, a social marketing platform with the intent of promotion, announced today that its communications platform FanSpace would soon be used on MySpace. As if number one social networking site MySpace was not a strong enough new music promoter already, Gydget, a social marketing platform with the intent of promotion, announced today that its communications platform FanSpace would soon be used on MySpace.

FanSpace, which will also be used by sports teams, allows artists to create informational gydgets (think a more pop-culture savvy widget), with content that can include tour dates, videos, and music. Fans will be able to collect as many of their favorite widgets as they like for use on their MySpace pages.
“MySpace is the number one place for music promotion on the web,” said Gerardo Capiel, CEO of Gydget. “By integrating our application with the MySpace platform, our clients can take full advantage of the viral features such as friend update feeds and bulletins that drive fan activity. The bands who use FanSpace will see their exposure grow as their fans introduce their music and videos to their friends, through the application.”

Industry insiders are also hopeful about the venture, with some such as In De Goot Entertainment (Puddle of Mudd, Chevelle) seeing Gydget as “a very cost effective way for us to keep our fans up-to-date on upcoming releases and shows.”
