Muscadine Bloodline Team with Turnpike Troubadours’ Kyle Nix for Boot-Stomping New Single “Tickets to Turnpike”

Muscadine Bloodline appeared on the country music scene in 2020 with their debut album Burn It at Both Ends. At the time, the Alabama-based duo was bent on chasing radio trends. However, after sitting with that music for a couple of years, they decided to make music they actually enjoyed. Dispatch to 16th Ave. saw the band leaning into a more traditional country sound in 2022. Then, last year’s Teenage Dixie saw them fully coming into their own. Their forthcoming album The Coastal Plain sees a continuation of that. Today, the duo released “Tickets to Turnpike” as the latest single from that collection.

“Tickets to Turnpike” sees Muscadine Bloodline enlisting the help of Turnpike Troubadours’ fiddler Kyle Nix. It’s fitting as the lyrics have the song’s narrator attempting to woo a girl at a party with a ticket to see the Oklahoma-bred band. In the chorus they sing, Darlin’ can I take you out? Waitin’ for a minute / I got an extra ticket to a Turnpike show. / We can both sneak out / Alibi together, and it won’t hurt / What your mama won’t know.

Nix kicks off the song with his signature Red Dirt fiddle sound. However, Nix and name-dropping the band aren’t the only references to the Oklahoma export. There are several lyrical nods to the band’s catalog including “Diamonds and Gasoline” and “Bossier City” among others.

Muscadine Bloodline on “Tickets to Turnpike”

Charlie Muncaster (vocals) and Gary Stanton (vocals/guitar) spoke about the new track in a statement. “The song is special to us because we have always looked up to Turnpike Troubadours,” Muscadine Bloodline shared. “Over the years we have been able to cross touring with them off our bucket list. It means a great deal to have Kyle Nix from Turnpike on the track as well,” they added, saying having him there “seemed very fitting and makes it that much more special to us.”

The Coastal Plain, the group’s fourth album will be available across streaming platforms and on record store shelves on August 16. Pre-order your copy today.
