Megan strutted on stage and began with her hit song “BOA,” transitioning into “B.A.S.” She had the crowd recite the lyrics as she danced, then moved to another stage featuring drummers. Megan showcased her signature hot girl attitude while moving to different stages. She transitioned into “Mamushi” from the new album, and introduced Yuki Chiba, who features on the track.

Megan Thee Stallion Brings New Album to MTV VMAs, While Eminem Opened the Show

At the beginning of the night, Eminem opened the MTV VMAs with a memorable performance from his recent album, The Death of Slim Shady. This was the first time he performed the material on television, and his fellow artists in the crowd went wild for the new work.

Eminem is also nominated for eight awards this year, including Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, and Best Hip-Hop, among others. Tonight, he’s tied with Peter Gabriel for most awarded male artist at the VMAs. All he needs is one award to break that record. He could also break the reigning Hip-Hop record set by Nicki Minaj if he wins Best Hip-Hop this year.

Many records will be broken at the VMAs this year. Beyoncé holds the record for most amount of VMAs at 27 awards over the years. However, Taylor Swift could break her record by only winning five of her total 10 nominations. Judging by the fact that she won all nine of her nominations last year, this could be a big moment for Swifties.
