Ahead of its June 6 release, Lambert has shared a preview of the track she co-wrote with Pistol Annies bandmate Ashley Monroe and Jesse Frasure. The romantic tune finds the singers dueting on such lyrics as, I’d make sure your stars were shining/I’d follow you up like lightning/I’d rope the moon for you a million times/It’s what I’d do if you were mine.
According to a press release, the song centers around the theme of “unrequited love,” with Lambert writing the song with Bridges, a fellow Texan, in mind. Lambert is a native of Lindale while Bridges hails from Fort Worth.
“I have been a big fan of Leon for a while because he is very authentic as an artist and I love his music,” she says in a press statement. “Since we are both from Texas, we threw in a few Texas references, of course – the Frio River being one. When we finished this song, we sent it to Leon in hopes that he would want to collaborate and we were so glad that he said yes. I have really enjoyed getting to know him and I’m happy to have him as a new friend.”
“I was humbled to have Miranda ask if I’d join her on this beautiful duet she wrote,” adds Bridges. “Getting in the studio with her in Nashville to sing this song together was magic. There’s nothing better than two Texans on one mic!”
Lambert is in the process of recording new music. The recent American Songwriter cover star shared that she’s been actively writing with her The Marfa Tapes collaborators Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, among others. “We already have a pile for whatever’s next,” she said. She also released her cookbook, Y’all Eat Yet?: Welcome to The Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen, in April 2023.
