Lambert kicked the set off solo with “Kerosene,” but stopped in the middle of the song with a special announcement. “You know what? There’s been some girl power up here tonight already, and I like that. We could use a little more badass up here, couldn’t we?” she teased. “I think y’all know the exact person I would invite out here to make more badass happen right now.” That’s when Lambert introduced her “new bestie” Lavigne to the stage to help her finish “Kerosene.”

“What’s up Nashville,” Lavigne shouted as she jogged onto the stage, throwing a “rock on” sign into the air. Lavigne sounded like a natural on the fiery country song that suited her voice. But they couldn’t end the set without singing one of Lavigne’s hits. “Alright Nashville, are you guys ready to party?” Lavigne shouted as the opening notes of her signature hit “Sk8er Boi” came pouring through the speakers. She literally got the crowd jumping as she started to sing the first verse and was soon joined by Lambert.

The two lit up the stage, bouncing and smiling as they sang the famous chorus, He was a skater boy/She said, “See you later, boy”/He wasn’t good enough for her/She had a pretty face/But her head was up in space/She needed to come back down to earth. “Thank you, Nashville!” Lambert shouted. The performance ended with a hug between the pair.

Luke Combs, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Reba McEntire, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, Ashley McBryde and Jelly Roll were among the many other performers during the three-hour broadcast.
