Sri Lankan superstar M.I.A. gave birth to a baby boy last wednesday, three days after bravely performing “Swagga Like Us” live at the Grammys. The baby’s due date was the same day as the ceremony, but its release was pushed back, so to speak.

The baby’s name has yet to be revealed. The father is M.I.A.’s boyfriend, Benjamin Brewer, the son of Edgar Bronfman, chairman and CEO of Warner Music Group.

The “Paper Planes” singer informed the world via her Myspace page.

“To fans friends on family. My baby is here – happy valentines!

Sunday nite I came home from the still in the mood to party, I coulda easily gone out but I went home instead, lucky i did!! Coz my early stage labour kicked in around 2 a.m.

My baby was born Wednesday, he is healthy, fine, beautiful and the most amazing thing ever on this planet, of course I’m his mum!!!

Me and baby are putting our tour dates for 2010 together, and making mixtapes, and figuring out a way to break out of the hospital!

Hopefully the world is been ticking along and i ain’t missed much!”

The MC is scheduled to perform at the Oscars this Sunday. She is nominated for the Slumdog Millionaire song “O Saya,” which M.I.A. wrote with score composer A.R. Rahman
