Beginning in November, consumer electronics brand Memorex will be installing their new karaoke machines in cabs in San Francisco and Chicago to entice riders to sing for a free ride.
This is part of an advertising campaign to promote Memorex’s new SingStand which includes a full-sized microphone, speakers and stand customers can use to sing along to their favorite songs from iPods or any other MP3 Player.
This is not the first time there have been sing-alongs in cab rides. Dallas and Kansas City also have a version of this idea with cabaroke.com and Karaoke Yellow Cab.
The riders that agree to sing for a free ride will be filmed and broadcasted on mykaraokecab.com, which will be a live site next week. There will be six cabs covered in advertisements of SingStand with the equipment in high-traffic areas of the cities
In December, the singing cabs will go to New York City as well where the song list will include holiday appropriate songs such as “White Christmas”..
