The only thing I have on is the radio, Margo Price sings in her skivvies.

The latest music video for her song, “Radio,” is a technicolor party for one. The video – gleaming with a vintage sheen – finds the country star at home with herself, dancing to the radio as singer Sharon Van Etten joins her from a retro television screen.

“To me, this song is about turning down the noise and opinions of my haters and people who try to tear me down,” Price explained of the song in a statement. “It’s about having confidence in yourself and your vision. It’s also a pun about being naked that I lifted from Marilyn Monroe.”

Armed with dance moves à la Risky Business under a thick haze of weed smoke, Price can be seen letting loose with, in fact, very little on but the radio in the Bella Mazzola-directed video. “There’s a real freedom about being completely truthful about who I am, flaws and all and that’s what I was trying to capture in this song,” the singer continued.

“The melody came to me when I was walking in the woods,” she detailed. “I hummed the tune into my phone and when I got home, I picked up the guitar and made a demo. I sent it to Sharon and asked for her feedback, which she graciously gave. She helped me write some of the words and then went into the studio adding multiple layers of harmonies. Her voice is so strong, so haunting, when she sent me back the demo of her singing it, I got chills all over. I knew right then that this song had to go on the album.”

“Radio” is one of the many powerful offerings that can be found on Price’s fourth studio album. The recently released, Strays, is a record of tantalizing defiance, one American Songwriter applauded for the singer’s ability to “[break] down any barriers left around her … In just 10 songs, she manages to tell a lifetime of stories that are captivating from start to finish.”
