Johnny Van Zant has rushed off of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s tour to be by his daughter’s side. On Tuesday, the band announced that their planned show in Anchorage, Alaska, would not go on as planned.

“Early this morning, Johnny Van Zant was informed his daughter must undergo emergency surgery,” the post read in part. “Johnny has asked all fans to pray for a successful procedure and recovery.”
The following day, the band canceled appearances for the remainder of the month.
“Johnny Van Zant’s daughter had a sudden emergency illness,” the post read in part. “He has left the tour to be with her as they continue testing, diagnosis, and treatment.”
Lynyrd Skynyrd, who was on The Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour with ZZ Top this summer, is next scheduled to play at South Carolina’s Field & Stream Fest Oct. 4-6.
Johnny Van Zant Has Discussed the Importance of Family
Van Zant daughter, Lindsay, died in 2018 after a battle with cancer. According to her obituary, Lindsay had three sisters: Kristen, Harmony, and Taylor. It’s unclear which Van Zant daughter is currently experiencing health issues.
During a December interview with Flamingo, Van Zant opened up about the importance of family.
“Family means everything to me,” he said. “… Family’s everything. You can make billions of dollars, but when you take your last breath and you hope and pray to God, those billions of dollars are not going to be there. Family are. And that means everything.”
