Luke Combs Missed His Scheduled Induction Into the Music City Walk of Fame—for a Great Cause

With the success following Luke Combs, it’s hard to believe the singer spent only a decade in country music. Throughout that time, he won several awards including the Entertainer of the Year award. He also shared the stage with Tracy Chapman for an iconic performance. And inside the studio, he recorded several studio albums. His last, Fathers & Sons, hit shelves back in June. Continuing to expand his grasp on country music, it appeared that Combs needed to postpone his induction into the Music City Walk of Fame due to scheduling conflicts.

Besides gaining entry into the Music City Walk of Fame, Combs was set to be inducted alongside other greats like Fairfield Four and Jimmy Buffett on October 30th. But even before the ceremony, Combs announced he would not be attending. Releasing a statement, he wrote, “My apologies everyone, with our stadium event for hurricane relief happening in Charlotte this weekend my schedule has changed. I won’t be attending the Walk of Fame ceremony later this month. Stay tuned for a later date.”

While his moment will happen eventually, Combs also used his statement to honor those who were selected alongside him. “I want to send a huge congratulations to the other inductees, the late Jimmy Buffett and his family, The Fairfield Four, my friend Bill Cody and my partner Colin Reed, on their well-deserved recognition.”

Luke Combs Learned Of His Induction While On Stage

Earlier this month, Combs learned about his induction while on stage at the Luke Combs Bootleggers Bonfire. Standing in front of thousands, the country star insisted, “I would have never expected anything like that, I’m not even certain that I deserve something like that. I wouldn’t have it without you guys, I wouldn’t have it without my family in my team and everybody that works so hard and dedicates parts of their lives to make my awesome. So I just want to thank my whole team, my wife, my kids, Kappy, everybody that’s here. You know who you are. But thank you guys man, so much.”
