Luke Bryan is gearing up for summer with his new single, “But I Got a Beer in My Hand.”

Co-written by Chase McGill, Matt Dragstrem and Geoff Warburton, “But I Got a Beer in My Hand” is an upbeat song that is quintessentially Bryan with nods to a deer stand, Lucchese cowboy boots, and, of course, beer. The lyrics find the singer as a man who was just broken up with. But rather than being sad, Bryan has the comfort of a cold one to keep him company.
But I got a beer in my hand / And I got it raised up high / I ain’t got a give in my damn right / I can do this all night / Country done came to town / This town don’t stand a chance … Feelin’ this high, wasn’t part of my plan / Wasn’t even gonna try / But I got a beer in my hand,” he sings in the lively chorus.
“I knew I wanted a fun up-tempo song everyone could enjoy this summer,” Bryan says in a press release. “I can’t wait to start doing it live. It’s gonna be a blast.”
“Your new summer anthem has arrived,” he adds on Instagram. “This town doesn’t stand a chance with this one.”
“Beer” is the first single off Bryan’s forthcoming album. It follows his previous single, “Country On,” off his 2022 compilation album, Prayin’ in a Deer Stand, which became his 30th No. 1 hit. This summer, Bryan will headline the Country On Tour that kicks off on June 15 in Syracuse, New York, and continues through the fall where it wraps on October 28 in Charleston, South Carolina. He’ll also return to Las Vegas for his residency at Resorts World on August 30 and September 2, 3, 6, 8 and 9.
Fans will get to hear Bryan perform “But I Got a Beer in My Hand” live on the season finale of American Idol airing on Sunday (May 21) at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
