Luke Bryan Notches His 31st Career Chart-Topper

Luke Bryan might spend much of his time as a judge on American Idol. However, that doesn’t stop him from touring and releasing music. It also doesn’t stop him from launching singles to the top of the country charts. He just notched his 31st career chart-topper with his latest song “Love You, Miss You, Mean It.”

Penned by Rhett Akins, Ben Hayslip, Jordan Minton, and Jacob Rice, Bryan released the song in April as the third single from his latest album Mind of a Country Boy. Fans instantly fell in love with the sweet song about a couple reconnecting after years of separation. “Love You, Miss You, Mean It” currently sits atop the Mediabase country chart. It’s also sitting at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart dated October 12. It will likely reach the summit of that survey next week.

Bryan also achieved another career milestone with the song. “Love You Miss You Mean It” landing at the top of the charts brought his total time spent at No. 1 to 57 weeks. This puts him in a rare club with other artists who spend more than a year at the top. Luke Combs recently joined that list along with Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson George Strait, Kenny Chesney, and a few others.

Luke Bryan on “Love You Miss You Mean It”

Luke Bryan liked “Love You Miss You Mean It” the first time he heard it. At the time, he didn’t think too deeply about the song. He just knew it was a good one. When people in his camp heard it, though, they said it sounded like a return to his roots.

“Everybody’s like, ‘Oh my God, this kind of sounds like vintage throwback Luke stuff,’” Bryan said. “I’m like, ‘Well, I don’t realize that but, then, it kind of does,’” he added. That wasn’t what made him like the song, though. Instead, it was how much it reminded him of his and his wife’s relationship.

“Caroline and I actually did the college sweetheart break up and get back together. The song just felt right,” he said. “It felt good, and it felt that way from the first listen. I heard it and it just felt like it had all the elements of a big hit song. Then you got to go in and record it, and the rest is history,” he added.
