Throughout each season of American Idol, fans tend to surround their favorite singers and the performers who they believe will make it into the finale. Even the judges take a moment to select their favorites. For Emmy Russell, her time on American Idol did more than showcase her talent. Russell’s connection with Loretta Lynn took center stage. With many learning Lynn is the grandmother of Russell, the singer continued to prove the musical talent that appears to run in the family. While Russell didn’t win American Idol, she isn’t letting the loss get to her as she recently covered the hit song “There Is None Like You.”

Emmy Russell Opens Up About ‘American Idol’ Loss
While there are far worse ways to wake up, the performance from Russell gained high praise from fans as the video garnered thousands of views. Comments included, “Beautiful Emmy! There is no one like Him!! Thank you for blessing us using your beautiful voice to turn our eyes to the Lord!!” Another comment added, “Your sweet voice is so calming and peaceful to me! The world needs more of that right now more than ever! Thank you for sharing! Many blessings!”
Just a few months ago, Russell discussed her time on American Idol and her thoughts on how it all ended. Not fazed by the loss, she said, “I’m just really feeling grateful. I didn’t make Top 3, but … that was God’s plan. That was funny because before I got eliminated, I think God told me, he was like, ‘Emmy, you’re not gonna be chosen by America, but I chose you.’”
Comparing American Idol to dating, Russell insisted, “There was no sense of ‘Why wasn’t I chosen?’ I know I’m chosen. It’s like whenever a boy is like, ‘I don’t wanna go out with you anymore.’ And you’re, like, ‘OK. But I know I’m loved.’”
