The Temptations Bring Sunshine on a Cloudy Day with “My Girl” Aboard the Wonder Bread Wondership Float at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a holiday for countless families across the United States. The event has been a holiday staple since 1924, minus three years during WWII. The Temptations, in one iteration or another, have been making classic soul music for more than 60 years. They made their first appearance in the parade in 1971. Today, the iconic group brought their brand of Motown soul to the masses once more.

The Temptations rode aboard Wonder Brand’s Wondership. Seeing them on the ship-shaped float representing the classic white bread brand is a subtle throwback to their debut parade appearance. In 1971, they performed from the Broadway Belle Showboat float. However, the group has undergone several lineup changes over the years.

Many fans were excited to see The Temptations on the Wondership float today. However, the group might have been more excited about their return to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade than anyone else. The group took to social media to share their excitement earlier this month. “Fee-fi-fo-fum, look out baby, ‘cause we’ll be performing at the 98th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!” they wrote in the post.  “We are counting the days til we serenade millions on the parade route and to those watching from their living rooms.”

The Temptations Are Still Going Strong

Rock & Roll Hall of Famers The Temptations are still going strong after more than 60 years in the business. Over the years, they have released iconic tracks such as “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready,” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” to name a few. This year, Otis Williams, the only remaining original member of the group will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the group’s first No. 1 single, “My Girl.”

“My Girl” also recently hit 1 billion streams on Spotify proving that the classic vocal group has incredible staying power. However, they’re not resting on their laurels. They’re also re-releasing their classic 1980 holiday album Give Love at Christmas on apple-red vinyl ahead of the Yuletide season.

The classic album includes original songs as well as versions of holiday standards like “The Christmas Song,” “The Little Drummer Boy,” “This Christmas,” and “Silent Night.”
