Since banding together during the 1990s, Little Big Town released several albums like The Road to Here, Pain Killer, and Mr. Sun. While not releasing a new album last year, the band made up for it in October 2024 when they revealed their first Christmas album called The Christmas Record. Packed with holiday cheer and the meaning of Christmas, Little Big Town couldn’t pass up performing during the 2024 Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

With the Christmas season underway, Little Big Town hoped to celebrate the best part of the year in New York City. Gaining an invitation to perform during the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, the group needed to worry about more than their voices as the temperatures dropped to the 30s. But that didn’t remotely stop Little Big Town from showcasing their perfect harmonies on stage with “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”
Jumping to the comment sections, fans gushed over Little Big Town and how they delivered the perfect sound of Christmas. “This is absolutely amazing. It is absolutely beautiful.” Another person continued, “May your holidays be filled with peace, love, and unforgettable memories!”
Little Big Town Takes Over The Grand Ole Opry
Although loving the Christmas season, it took Little Big Town several years to produce a holiday album. Discussing what took so long, Karen Fairchild said, “Our schedule went crazy and every year since it’s been something with the kids or our parents or business … we finished it in the spring and are so proud of it. We put a lot of work into the writing.”
Putting the spotlight on Jimi Westbrook, Fairchild added, “Jimi is a huge Elvis fan, so we always start off by listening to ‘Elvis’ Christmas Album.’ And the Harry Connick Jr. album (“When My Heart Finds Christmas”) is a popular one for us. We love ‘I Pray on Christmas’ and almost cut it for the album. Maybe for the extended version!”
Outside of releasing a Christmas album and performing during the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Little Big Town also recorded a special at the Grand Ole Opry titled “Little Big Town’s Christmas at the Opry.” The special will air on December 16th on NBC.
