Marissa Nadler will step out from behind the curtain of Kemado Records – which named their super-hipster Mexican Summer imprint after one of her songs – and release the self-titled Marissa Nadler on her own label, Box Of Cedar, this June. First track “Baby, I Will Leave You In The Morning” isn’t so much an answer song to Zep’s “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You” – or Joan Baez or Anne Bredon’s versions, for that matter – but does find the Boston-based singer-songwriter again exploring ’60s psychedelic folk with a decidedly California vibe. A tweaky synth and lots of tonal modulations accent Nadler’s dreamy voice on this first hint at what’s bound to be a truly captivating summer release.
