Lil Wayne’s full-length return is now just days away. On Wednesday (September 27), the New Orleans-bred rap legend announced via Instagram that his upcoming mixtape Tha Fix Before Tha VI will be released on Friday (September 29).

Wayne’s post arrives just a week after he first teased Tha Fix Before Tha VI, a preliminary release before his long-awaited studio album Tha Carter VI. In fact, when discussing the new mixtape last week on Undisputed, a FOX Sports talk show he is a frequent guest on, Wayne insisted that this project just serves as an appetizer for his loyal listeners.

Tha Fix is just a few songs to satisfy my fans, who are awesome and I love them and they love a lot of material,” he told Undisputed host Skip Bayless. “I’m just giving them something before the actual album. We’re still getting clearances and all that ready for the album.”

Along with sharing the cover art for Tha Fix, Wayne also unveiled the 10-song track list on Wednesday. Including feature appearances from fellow Louisiana native and beloved Jazz singer Jon Baptiste, rising R&B star Fousheé, and more, Tha Fix contains both “songs off [Tha Carter VI], and songs I recorded specifically for [Tha Fix]”, he noted on Undisputed last week.

For those unfamiliar, Wayne’s Friday release will be the latest addition to a long list of mixtapes he has used as warm-ups for eventual albums. Whether it be mixtape series like Sorry 4 the Wait or Da Drought, Wayne has held onto this habit all throughout his career.

So, as he’s teased Tha Carter VI for most of 2023, Tha Fix will surely give fans a glimpse of the type of music Wayne’s been working on recently, much like his latest single “Kat Food” did earlier this month.
