Heeding Jay-Z’s words “Young Carter, go farther, go further, go harder,” Lil Wayne is staying busy, announcing yesterday that his next album, Rebirth, is penciled in for an April 7 release.

According to Billboard, the album’s first single, “Prom Queen,” debuts today on the artist’s MySpace page and will hit Facebook Wednesday (January 28) through a partnership with AT&T.

On Rebirth Lil Wayne continues to experiment with his electric guitar, Billboard says, as he borrows from rock and roll to reinvent his raps.

Selling 2.7 million copies last year, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III was the king of album sales in 2008 and nabbed a Grammy nomination for album of the year. The New Orleans rapper leads all artists in Grammy nominations with eight.
