Contrary to popular belief (if there’s such a thing about ‘em), Les Savy Fav are not just another N.Y. post-punk band, they are the N.Y. post-punk band. Let’s Stay Friends will make that imminently clear. Lines like, “We used to be Gods, now we’re so plain./It took ten million years just to say my real name/Back before Babylon, shit was cool/Now we’ve all got our saddles on, and trot to school” in “Patty Lee,” with Tim Harrington’s vocals put old myths to bed and birth new ones within breaths. After a nearly six-year hiatus between LPs, LSF have produced their most listenable, least head scratching record yet-Seth Jabour (guitar), Syd Butler (bass) and Harrison Haynes (drums) have honed their crafts quite nicely. Guests include Eleanor Friedberger of Fiery Furnaces, SNL’s Fred Armisen, all of Enon and a pantheon of assorted indie luminaries.
