On September 14, Leonard Cohen will release Songs From The Road, a DVD and CD combo set featuring performances from his most recent world tour.
Songs From The Road will include twelve of his most well-known songs, like “Famous Blue Raincoat,” “Suzanne,” “Chelsea Hotel,” and “Hallelujah,” each taken from various concerts around the world, including stops at the Royal Albert Hall and the Coachella Music and Arts Festival.
The DVD also comes with a bonus twenty-minute interview with Cohen’s band members, conducted by his daughter, Lorca Cohen. In conjunction, two sets of liner notes were written by Leon Wieseltier, literary editor of The New Republic, and producer Ed Sanders, the latter providing an in-depth commentary on each track.
“When legend Cohen takes to the stage, it’s no less than a cultural event of Biblical dimensions,” Ireland’s The Independent wrote of the Canadian songsmith.
Cohen’s 2008 world tour was his first in fifteen years, selling over 700,000 tickets throughout the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Israel, Scandinavia, the U.S., and elsewhere.
