Lainey Wilson is everything you look for in a Nashville success story. In August 2011, the “4x4xU” singer famously left behind her tiny hometown of Baskin, Louisiana, to live in a camper trailer outside a recording studio in Nashville. It took a decade, but she finally broke through in 2021 with her first No. 1 hit, “Things A Man Oughta Know.” Since then, it’s only been up for Wilson. And a recent social media post has fans speculating that the Grammy Award-winning country star may have another career milestone in store.

Lainey Wilson Teases “Big Things” on Social Media
On Sunday (Oct. 13), Lainey Wilson shared a brief clip to social media. The clip is an extreme close-up of the “Hang Tight Honey” singer’s feet. She taps one shiny red boot, showing off her star-spangled bell bottoms.
“Big things are coming, y’all,” Wilson wrote in the caption. She also included some telltale emojis: a star, a bell and a football.
Social Media Speculates: “Super Bowl?”
If Lainey Wilson intended to ignite a firestorm of speculation with her post, she certainly succeeded. Some fans presumably took the star emoji to mean that she would perform the national anthem before the NFL’s Thanksgiving Day showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants.
“omg you’re gonna be playing at the Dallas cowboy halftime game!” one Instagram user gushed. “Please say it so !!!! I never miss a Thanksgiving game here at home.”

Others interpreted Wilson’s post to mean the “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” singer would make an appearance at Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Kendrick Lamar has already announced that he will headline the highly-anticipated halftime show. However, someone still needs to sing the national anthem. “STAR SPANGLED BANNER FOR THE SUPERBOWL??????” one fan guessed.
Others thought Wilson might be taking the Sunday Night Football reins from Carrie Underwood, who has performed “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” since 2013. Given Underwood’s rampant success, however, this seems less likely.
