KISS Plan Five-Part Documentary That Will Take Fans Behind the Scenes of Their Farewell Tour

Kiss kicked off their End of the Road Tour in January 2019 and rocked more than 200 crowds before bringing things to a glorious end with two sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden last December. Now, the band is working on a five-part documentary series that will take fans behind the scenes of the last days of one of rock’s biggest bands.

Paul Stanley announced the documentary series in a social media post last Friday (October 4). The post features a photo of Stanley’s wife. In the caption, he wrote “WOW…My beautiful wife Erin being interviewed today for a five-part documentary on our final tour. I’m blessed.”

While a handful of shows from Kiss’ farewell tour were broadcast as pay-per-view events, nothing else has been released. The band hasn’t mentioned live albums or concert videos thus far. The forthcoming documentary is the only piece of media stemming from the tour so far. However, details about it are thin on the ground. Stanley’s post seems to be the only source of information about it as of now.

Kiss to Become Avatars for Future Shows

Kiss will follow in the footsteps of ABBA and have 3D avatars made of themselves to continue putting on concerts for fans for years to come. While some aren’t sure about the new direction, Paul Stanley is sure fans will love it. They’re working with Pophouse, the same collective that created ABBA’s avatars to bring their own animated show to life.

Stanley spoke about the new project with Billboard’s Behind the Setlist podcast. “The Pophouse deal is revolutionary but it’s also really in keeping with the band. The idea of us selling publishing or anything like that was never on our radar. What we wanted to do if anything, was find some partners who understood the scope and the magnitude of not only the music over the decades but the characters, the personas that we created,” he said.

“What we’re creating is an immersive experience that Kiss fans will love and people who have never been exposed to Kiss or might not like certain aspects of the band will have to see,” Stanley added. “It’s a must-see go-to experience. So, it’s beyond anything that anyone else has contemplated. The whole idea, again, of doing a simulated concert is—that’s the dark ages to us.”
