Two GoFundMe fundraisers were set up for the victims. One fundraiser is for the family of the man who died at the rally. The other fundraiser was set up by the Trump campaign to benefit all those affected by the violence. The former raided $140,000 while the latter raised over $1.2 million, according to numerous outlet reports including The Tennessean. Many people showed their support by donating, but none so much as Kid Rock.

Kid Rock Donates Money to Fundraiser for Slain Firefighter’s Family, Community and Family Speak Out

Elsewhere on social media, the daughter of the volunteer firefighter shared her experience there, revealing that her father’s final act was to shield his family from the violence.

Allyson Comperatore posted a statement on social media about her father, 50-year-old Corey Comperatore. “The media will not tell you that he died a real-life super hero,” she began. The statement continued, in part, “They are not going to tell you how quickly he threw my mom and I to the ground. They are not going to tell you that he shielded my body from the bullet that came at us.”

Others in the community and part of the family made statements also. According to a report from NPR, Comperatore’s sister, Dawn, made a statement in a since-deleted Facebook post. “The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most. He was a hero that shielded his daughters. His wife and girls just lived through the unthinkable and unimaginable,” she wrote.

Rich Hill, the township manager of Sarver, Pennsylvania where the Comperatore family lives, stated, “Corey was a dedicated husband, father, friend, and volunteer to the community, and will be sorely missed. Political violence is always unacceptable and should be condemned,” in an email to NPR.
