On Friday (July 28), Kid Cudi made an appearance on “LOOOVE,” the 16th song on Travis Scott’s brand new studio album UTOPIA. As their first collaboration since their 2020 No. 1 hit “THE SCOTTS,” “LOOOVE” re-awakened Cudi’s fans’ hunger for an album between the two artists. And, shortly after UTOPIA‘s release, Cudi confirmed that the duo still has plans to make that happen.

Tweeting “Its def happening at some point, don’t even trip” on Friday, Cudi’s response to a fan’s plea for the aforementioned collaborative album came seven months after he initially told followers that THE SCOTTS LP was no longer happening. “Naw (I’m) not doin that,” he tweeted just a few days before Christmas in 2022. “The moment has passed.”
But now, it seems that Scott and Cudi got back on track working on the project they initially announced alongside its 2020 lead single. In fact, later on Friday, Cudi continued on this tangent in another tweet, where he rescinded his prior comment about “the moment passing.”
“Me and Trav hadn’t talked about it since the single so years passed and I figured it (wasn’t) happening,” he wrote. “And (I’m) someone who likes to work when the moment is right and I felt like the moment passed. But then Trav said something (publicly) so I was like well shit I guess we doin it ha talked to him to confirm and he was (with) it.”
Currently, Cudi is working on his upcoming solo album INSANO, set to release in September. Earlier this year, he revealed that Scott would be featured on the album, along with Young Thug. So, in addition to focusing his attention on INSANO, Cudi tweeted Friday that he wants fans to soak in UTOPIA before moving on to THE SCOTTS, yet to be given a release date.
“He just dropped!!” he wrote. “And we need to take the time to get it right. I (want to) create a ton of songs and pick the tastiest ones and really make it a moment for the culture. We only get 1 first album, (it’s) gotta be the illest. For now, UTOPIA.”
Scott, who has worked with Cudi before on songs like “Baptized in Fire” (2016) and “Through the Late Night” (2016), derived his stage name from Cudi’s birth name Scott Mescudi, as Cudi was a huge musical inspiration for him in his early years. Now, an LP fans have waited all decade for, THE SCOTTS‘ eventual release will be quite the full circle moment for both parties involved.
