Although the voice behind songs like “California Gurls” and “Firework”, Katy Perry stepped away from the studio to explore a different avenue—American Idol. Spending several years with the show alongside judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, the trio seemed to mesh well together as their banter and love were on display during every episode. But that changed last season when Perry decided to announce her exit. While leaving her fellow judges shocked, the singer explained how she wanted to get back to the studio. And keeping to her word, Perry recently discussed her new album 143 and where the name came from.

On September 20th, Perry’s newest album, 143, will hit shelves to the delight of many fans. While currently promoting her new work, the singer sat down with Apple Music 1 to share her inspiration behind the album. She said, “It’s called 143. It’s my angel number. It’s my symbol, it’s my sign. A couple years ago, we were going through a little bit of a hard time medically in our family, and it was a little bit scary, and I started seeing 143 in many different ways, not just on the phone.”

Katy Perry Wants To Share Her Love With Fans
While believing that an angel helped her discover the number, Perry expanded on her statement, insisting, “I really believe it was my angels, my guides, saying, ‘I love you. We got you. We’re going to protect you. You’re exactly where you’re meant to be. You’re on the path.’”
Although finding her way back to the studio, Perry appeared excited about sharing her new songs, like “Woman’s World” with fans. “I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message.” She added, “I do love the listener, and I want to give them the love that I’ve received as best as I possibly can and help invite them into this kind of love frequency.”
Besides releasing a new song and revealing the inspiration behind her new album, Perry is on the cusp of returning to her rightful place on the stage.
