Jung Kook released a statement regarding the festival, per Variety. “I’m so thrilled to join this year’s Global Citizen Festival as a headliner!” the K-pop superstar said. “The festival sheds light on important causes and drives action and I’m happy to take part in it. I can’t wait to perform in front of many people at the Great Lawn in Central Park.”
Also according to Variety, Anne Beathe Tvinnereim, the Norwegian minister of international development for the Global Citizen’s advocacy campaign, released a statement regarding the goals of the campaign. “Extreme poverty, hunger and food insecurity threaten lives and health,” Tvinnereim said. “The call for action is crystal clear: We need to increase investments in climate-robust, small-scale food production.”
Jung Kook recently dethroned his own band as the most streamed K-pop act on Spotify. BTS is currently on hiatus as its individual members pursue solo opportunities. Jung Kook currently pulls in about 35,407,241 streams a month as a solo artist on the popular streaming service.
