The new album is produced by Mellencamp and marks his 25th studio LP. Previously, Mellencamp released the song, “Hey God,” which fans can see here.

The new track comes on the heels of the news that the Grammy-winning artist recently released a reissue of his popular album, Scarecrow, and has been displaying many of his paintings at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and at a gallery in New York City.

For more on the artist, check out American Songwriter’s recent profile of Mellencamp, in which he shared that he is something of a conduit for his work.

“You have to be open to the gods,” says Mellencamp, “or whatever it is that sends songwriters songs. I did not sit down and think, ‘I want to write a song called “I Always Lie To Strangers,’” but I was sitting there and all of a sudden there was a voice in my head that said, ‘John you should write these words down.’”
