Sammy Hagar, REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, the Doobie Brothers’ Michael McDonald, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Sam Moore and “Jessie’s Girl” singer Rick Springfield will also perform at the 26th annual event. The gala to raises money for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, which provides care and educational resources to serve patients who have Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, multiple–system atrophy, multiple sclerosis and other brain diseases.
Hagar, a longtime supporter of the Clinic’s philanthropic arm Keep Memory Alive, will also serve as musical curator for the show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on February 18. Comedian Nikki Glaser will also take the stage, with a special appearance by Maria Shriver, founder of The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement (WAM), to recognize the one-year anniversary of WAM’s collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic.
The date of the event also holds significance, as it marks 29 years since Lou Ruvo passed away from Alzheimer’s. His son, Larry Ruvo, founded Keep Memory Alive in his father’s honor.
“More than 25 years after my father’s death, the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health offers world-class care for patients, support for individuals and family caregivers, and, through groundbreaking clinical trials, the promise of more effective treatments,” Ruvo shares in the mission statement. “Although this center bears my father’s name, it is designed to honor every patient and family member who is impacted by brain disease. For their sake, we are working hard and making strides, and I am very optimistic.”
Snoop Dogg, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Joe Perry, Slash, Kris Kristofferson and Quincy Jones are among the many other artists who have appeared at the event in years past.
