Jimmie Allen has broken his silence after his day-to-day manager accused him of sexual assault and battery. The news surfaced just hours before the 2023 ACM Awards on Thursday, May 11. The “Best Shot” singer turned to social media Wednesday (May 17) to move forward. “We gonna be alright,” said Allen on his Instagram story. “This too shall pass.”

Allen incorporated Kendrick Lamar’s track “Alright” to back his Instagram story. In a second slide, he shared a promo photo of King & Country’s “Burn the Ships.” He tagged the duo and wrote, “God Only Knows! He Knows!” “Burn the Ships” is from the band’s third studio album, and is a Christian pop track about persevering forward and overcoming obstacles. It seems like Allen is turning to his faith, as the additional stories feature bible verses.

The vocalist did not address the claims on social media but issued a statement to Variety when the lawsuit went public. Allen confirmed the consensual relationship with his manager, who is identified as Jane Doe. “It is deeply troubling and hurtful that someone I counted as one of my closest friends, colleagues, and confidants would make allegations that have no truth to them whatsoever,” Allen told the outlet. “I acknowledge that we had a sexual relationship — one that lasted for nearly two years. During that time, she never once accused me of any wrongdoing, and she spoke of our relationship and friendship as being something she wanted to continue indefinitely.

“Only after things ended between us, did she hire a lawyer to reach out and ask for money, which leads me to question her motives. The simple fact is, her accusations are not only false, but also extremely damaging. I’ve worked incredibly hard to build my career, and I intend to mount a vigorous defense to her claims and take all other legal action necessary to protect my reputation.”

His estranged wife, Alexis Gale, also jumped on social media (May 17) to share a poem by Albert Camus about finding love, strength, and light in the midst of darkness.

The lawsuit was revealed weeks after the two announced their separation and that they were expecting a third child together. Allen and Gale are parents to an 18-month-old daughter named Zara James and Naomi Bettie, 3.

Jane Doe has accused Allen of alleged assault, sexual battery, false imprisonment, sex trafficking, and emotional distress. Variety reported that no criminal charges have been placed against Allen. The singer’s label BBR Music Group suspended him and he has been taken off the CMA Fest lineup. His agency and management company also dropped him following the accusations.
