Jimmie Allen has taken legal action against two women who sued him earlier this year for alleged rape and sexual abuse. In May, the 38-year-old was accused of sexual assault by his former day-to-day manager. A month later another woman came forward and also sued the singer and alleged the singer secretly filmed her during sex.

Billboard reports that Allen filed documents to countersue each accuser on Thursday (July 13) in a Nashville federal court. The singer told the publication in a statement that he has “engaged with a legal team to proceed with an appropriate course of action.” He added that the decision came to “protect my reputation and refute these claims that have caused severe damage to my family, mental health, and business.
“As the son and brother of rape victims, and the father of daughters, these false claims are extremely hurtful to me and everyone around me,” Allen continued. “These false allegations have caused me to lose a vast number of business and endorsement opportunities that I worked extremely hard for. These false allegations have also not only harmed me, but have caused severe financial damage to my band, my team, and their families.”
According to the publication and court filings, Allen is “seeking unspecified monetary damages” from both women. The singer’s lawyers claim his former day-to-day manager, named Jane Doe in the suit, made several “deliberate, intentional, malicious, and willful” statements to Variety, the publication that broke the news and alleged sexual assault. His lawyers go on to claim that Jane Doe 2 had “consented to the recording.”
Shortly after the initial two lawsuits were filed accusing Allen of sexual assault, the singer was officially suspended by his label BBR Music Group. He has also been dropped from his booking agency UTA, publicist and management company. The singer was previously scheduled to perform at CMA Fest in June but also was taken off the lineup. “We have removed Jimmie Allen from our performer lineup,” a representative from CMA confirmed to American Songwriter at the time.
