A wailing harmonica and swampy stomping rhythm open Jimmie Allen’s rendition of “Miss You.” The country star has taken The Rolling Stones’ classic for a spin, laying down a bluesy backdrop for his intoxicating vocals to shine.

Allen’s performance doesn’t stray far from the Stones’ original, but he gives the song a more toned-down country-rock feel, replacing frontman Mick Jagger’s sneering theatricality with his own bluesed-up country-soul sensibilities.
Allen’s cover of the 1978 hit is a part of the tribute album, Stoned Cold Country, a project that pays homage to the influential rock torchbearers in their sixth decade. Check it out below.
Allen’s reimagining of “Miss You” follows earlier releases, “It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll (But I Like It)” by Brothers Osborne & The War And Treaty, “Sympathy for the Devil”‘ by Elvie Shane, and Lainey Wilson’s take on “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”
Aptly considered “a love letter to The Rolling Stones from Nashville,” Stoned Cold Country sees some of the biggest names in country music come together in celebration of the rock icons. The tribute album features reimagined versions of the Stones’ classics from the likes of Brooks & Dunn, Eric Church, Steve Earle, Marcus King, Little Big Town, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris, Lainey Wilson, Zac Brown Band, and many more.
“This album is Country Music’s thank you to The Rolling Stones for 60 years of inspiration and providing the soundtrack of our lives,” the album’s producer Robert Deaton said of the project in a statement. “While recording the record, I was reminded that this is a showcase and spotlight on the best we have to offer as a genre. From our artists to all of the musicians that played on the record, we boldly state that Country Music is second to none when it comes to artists of integrity and creativity.”
Stoned Cold Country is set for release on March 17.
