Rescue workers immediately transferred James to the hospital on campus where he received medical care for injuries to his torso and head, before doctors released him the next morning.

Due to the injury, the Iowa City concert was immediately canceled, although the band announced that they “will make every effort” to reschedule a return date for a full concert. In addition, the band also postponed two shows scheduled at The Chicago Theatre for Thursday and Friday.
While not confirming a definite return date for My Morning Jacket, the band’s announcement did verify that James would need at least two or three weeks to recover. This appears to fit perfectly with My Morning Jacket’s European Fall Tour, scheduled to kick off on October 29 in Dublin. Europeans, however, should expect a more reserved stage presence from James, when he does return to the stage.
